World Film Festival, Kelowna, presents The Travelling World Community Film Festival March 7-10th, 2013. Films will be screened at UBC Okanagan and at Okanagan College (KLO Campus). See the schedule for room details.
The film program this year features an outstanding selection of 35 documentary films from around the world. The Travelling World Community Film Festival is known for the incredible breadth of topics covered as well as for the first class quality of the productions screened--these are films that are sure to educate, entertain and inspire.
Film topics include environmental, social justice and human rights issues. This event is supported by Okanagan College's Department of Communications, and UBC Okanagan's Cultural Studies Department. We make it happen locally with a dedicated group of volunteers who love and appreciate what this festival brings to our bioregion. The events are non-profit and support our community by raising funds for local community groups.
We welcome Okanagan residents of all ages to enjoy this year's festival. Again this year we again hope to host a special Family Program, on Saturday and Sunday afternoon at Okanagan College.
Admission to films is FREE: Donations are accepted for the Ki-low-na Friendship Centre and Inn from the Cold.
The Festival is pleased to be joined by the Kelowna Community Seed Swap which will be held Saturday March 9th, in the Okanagan College Student Centre Pit from 10-3 pm.

Education and Preparation for our Collective Future
The mission of the tenth annual Travelling World Film Festival is to fill an important information gap. We believe well-informed, engaged people are what make real democracy a possibility. The wide range of topics examined by the twenty five (?!) documentary films, from the history of labour and civil rights movements, the environmental price of the lust for profits, consumerism for tots, to the many beautiful and creative forms cultures of resistance can take are often bypassed or distorted by commercial for-profit media.
We also believe education is a right and have made sure our FREE ADMISSION policy welcomes all people. Some of the films will be accompanied by the film makers, so that questions, discussion and debate that lead to activism, are encouraged.
The film festival runs March 7-10 at UBCO and Okanagan College. Donations are gratefully accepted for The KI-LOW-NA Friendship Society and Inn from the Cold. The Kelowna Seed Swap augments the festival at Okanagan College on Saturday March 9th.
Children’s activities will be available both days. Film descriptions and schedule can be found at http://www.worldfilmfestkelowna.net/. Join us for this annual people power community event!
