Become a Supporter
We’re always working to build connections between the Festival and local groups/organizations who have an interest in the issues & initiatives our films address. We therefore seek out groups to “support” particular films each year. Supporting in this case doesn’t mean a financial contribution. Instead, it simply means that a group will promote a relevant film to their members. This could mean an email or other notice to the group providing details about where and when the specific Festival film is playing. Groups sometimes also come to the Festival and introduce their chosen film and speak briefly about their own organization. They can also participate in the BEEHIVE with a table and literature. We love our audiences to leave films feeling informed, inspired, and motivated to get involved locally. Please get in touch with a member of our organizing committee if you see a film that seems like a good fit or if you’re just generally interested in partnering with us. Become a Sponsor Our Festival is a unique community event that brings together locals with a wide range of interests. We are a non-profit event, run wholly by volunteers. We cover our screening fees and promotional costs with donations from local institutions and businesses. Please consider making a donation if this is an event that you value. Some details about the Festival · We screen between 25-30 documentary films each year, over a 3-4 day period. · We’ve been running annually in Kelowna for 17 years. · Our films attract annual audiences (total viewers in seats) of 1200-1500. · We believe education is a public good, and we want everybody in our community to feel welcome at our festival. We therefore charge no admissions to films/the festival, nor do we post a suggested donation amount. · We do accept donations at the door for local charities, however. For each of the past five years the Festival and our generous audience members have raised $2000.00 for community groups. If your group or company would like to a make a donation to support our Festival, please contact a member of our committee. All of our donors are thanked/listed here on our website, and our major donors also appear on our printed Festival program. You are also welcome to bring any printed promo material (posters or pamphlets) about your organization/business to share at the festival. Volunteer Volunteering is a wonderful way to show your support for the event and meet some great people. It's easy and you'll have lots of fun!
